Students demand postponement of JEE

Various students in India are concerned and are now appealing to the education ministry to review the situation of online exams and reconsider their decision. Many students, parents, and opposition leaders have opposed the government's move to hold the tests in the middle of a pandemic. But the government has released exam protocols, including social distancing and fever checks. 

 

The National Testing Agency (NTA), which will organize the JEE and NEET exams, said the tests are being done in the "interest of students and the country". Already twice postponed this year, the tests will be spread over several days and will be held at more centres than usual, to ensure there is no crowding.

Experts say there should be no overcrowding at the centres on the exam days as part of measures fighting the spread of COVID-19. 

 

Apart from IIT-JEE and NEET, various exams such as NDA, B.ED, IPM, DUET, CLAT, BHU(UET & PET), etc., are also being conducted in September. Various instances have also been found where exam centres were somehow 'infected' by corona positive students. 



The government decided to take such a crucial step amidst pandemic keeping in mind the already pressure that was created in the minds of children. They thought that if the exams were postponed any further, the pressure would make a very negative impact on students. 


Various students took a drop year to prepare for the exams, and if these exams were postponed any further, it would have been challenging for them to cope up. 


Testing students before taking the exam

With the unlock procedures that have been carried out, it was essential to recognize the educational status of children so that they don't lag. Some concerned parents, on the other hand, have decided not to let their child go and have convinced the child for the same. 


All the petitions regarding the cancellation process have already been refused so all the parents and students can hope is to get out of the centre with full health.
