The Abhiyan was launched by the current Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 2nd of October 2014 at Rajghat, New Delhi with an aim to make India clean. The aim was to provide sanitation facilities to every family, including toilets, solid and liquid waste disposal systems, village cleanliness, and safe and adequate drinking water supply by 2nd October, 2019.
Tare Zameen Foundation came forward to give him a hand to fulfill Gandhi ji’s dream of Swachh Bharat.
Our team members had silently observed the behavior of majority of the population of Delhi region and concluded to some facts. It has been observed that it is not in our behavior to keep our surroundings clean and sanitized. At the most we keep our own houses clean and it is of no concern of ours to be careful about streets, lanes, parks or other public places. Even after 71 years of Independence it is shameful to see that many of us are not aware of our duties towards the cleanliness of our city. We do not make the effort to walk 10 steps towards the dustbin and throw the trash in it. We feel that it is the job of rag pickers and cleaners to keep the city clean and it is not our responsibility. When we act this way the children also follows. Hence, in order to change this behavior there needs to be efforts to make an impact on the mindset of the people for a long term change.
To create an effective jerk towards these mentality Tare Zameen Foundation took the responsibility to raise voice for creating a healthy surrounding. The organization focused on creating awareness on environmental conservation and sustainability among the children and youth as they are the future of the nation and would be responsible for the upcoming decades. Tare Zameen Foundation believes that educating children and youth towards the betterment of the Nation is equivalent to planting a tree for the sake of fruitful benefits in the future.
Tare Zameen foundation organised drawing competition at Jagannath Temple, Hauzkhas & Swachh Bharat Abhiyan from Jagannath temple to Deer park on 20th Jan 2019. More than 300 students participated. We dream of a developed India free of poverty, ignorance, diseases, socio-economic disparities, social disharmony and ecological disaster. We want to bring change by raising awareness through promotion of a holistic development approach (physical, emotional, psychological and social) for a healthy lifestyle amongst everyone. All these dreams can on come true if we are nurturing in a disease free and clean society. So we appeal to every citizen of India to keep the surrounding clean both physically and mentally.
