Discrimination - The Reality

Discrimination is the state when two persons, groups or things are treated differently. Or we can say that it is when, one is given more priority than the other.

The main causes of discrimination can be race, caste, religion, gender, age, origin etc. Discrimination can also be seen at workplace, educational institutions or at out homes. Distinction on any basis can create a lot of issues and conflicts around.

Discrimination in education can provoke stress responses similar to post - traumatic stress disorder. Children who experience discrimination are more likely to gain negative attitudes about school, face motivational and lower academic performance and have higher risk of dropping out. If faced in the workplace, it affects a person physically and mentally which includes depression, anxiety disorders etc. It can also affect sf esteem or the mental health of a person for a longer period of time which may lead the person to stay in isolation, unemployment, poverty and many other issues. And not only this, it can also affect a person's nature, status, lifestyle and can trap a person in a cycle of illness.

While observing around I found that discrimination has become a part of our society and so it can be seen everywhere on some or the other basis.

The government of India has set up laws for it, Article 14,15,16,17 and 18 of Constitution of India; equal remuneration act,1976 ; hindu succession act, 1956 ; scheduled caste and scheduled tribe act, 1989 Such laws are mend for the protection of human rights.

But it can be seen that still people are violating the constitutional provisions without any thought of fear. And it's not only in a particular profession or institution instead it's almost everywhere from home to school and to workplace.

The concept of discrimination is making the society hollow and it should be avoided because we never know what effect it leaves over a person. Practicing such activities can make you look superior in the crowd but will never prove you right. While practicing discrimination we should put ourselves in one's shoes and think how it would feel if the same is done to us. And it's not only the work of the government to take actions over such thing infact we should also try to avoid practicing such activities and should also stop others doing so, because a bit of change can lead to drastic changes in future.

Discrimination doesn't sounds big but it's affects are. So keeping in mind we should always have a check over our activities because being partial for you can be a small thing you never know how major it can affect the other person. While observing around I also found people who were very careful about it and were good enough to the people around them. So, not every person is same it's just a few of them who create chaos in the surrounding.

Thus, we can conclude that discrimination is almost everywhere but we should be aware of our rights and the consequences of discrimination because practicing wrong stuff won't let you succeed for a long time. So, keeping the affects of discrimination and the governmental provisions we shouldn't practice discrimination.

"Discrimination has become a part of reality, But reality can be changed."
