Masks - A boon or bane?

The arrival of 2020 brought the virus of COVID 19 in our country; in fact, it laid the first stone back in 2019. The spread of the virus has been abrupt around the world, which has threatened a massive population. It is a highly transmittable and pathogenic viral infection that originated in Wuhan, China, and is now spreading across the world. It has symptoms but can also be asymptomatic; the generalized symptoms are:

  1. Fever
  2. Dry cough
  3. Breathing problem
  4. Chest pain or pressure
  5. Loss of taste or smell
  6. Aches and pains
  7. Tiredness
  8. Sore throat
  9. Rashes on skin
  10.  Diarrhoea
An infected person may have the above symptoms or may not receive any symptoms which can be dangerous for that individual and also for the people around him.
It's destructive because till date there has been no proper vaccine found for it because of which every person is asked to follow some basic measures:
* Wash and sanitize your hands.
* Don't touch your face frequently.
* Stay home
* Use masks
* Maintain a distance of at least 2 meters.

The above measures need not be only followed as rules; instead, it should become part of our life and responsibility, just like our health is.

The most important one is the usage of masks as it avoids us in coming contact with other people.

But the more masks are acting as a lifesaver, the riskier are they, as people are trying to cover their disagreeable activity; whether we talk about a robber or a gangster or a terrorist, the masks have been a greater help for them because of which they roam freely.

Recently, a case in Kanpur took place where the gangster Vikas Dubey murdered several police officers and ran away. Later, when he was caught, he accepted that he covered his face just with a mask and was easily able to travel from city to city.

It is quite problematic for the common people, too as wearing a mask for a longer duration can cause sweat, skin irritation, skin infection, breathing issues, etc. There was a case where the person fainted because of the mask and a shield as the person wasn't able to breathe properly.

So, from this, there arises a thought that is the mask boon or bane to the society. To survive through this pandemic masks are essential as they prevent us in coming direct contact with others which is the most prominent thing these days as the virus spreads mostly through the droplet from the infected person.

And not only it's good because of the virus; instead, it is also beneficial as it protects us from the pollution, sun, etc. and keeps us healthy and hygienic. Thus, it can be considered that like everything, even the masks have its pros and cons; It completely depends on an individual and the use of masks.

So, one needs to put a mask to avoid any direct connection with people and to be safe from the virus. Making the mask a boon or bane is totally over the person as they will be the ones responsible for all their deeds.

" Better to put mask than to face the viral task."
