The Unsung Heroes and Silent Victims

The pandemic of Covid 19 has led to a mass lockdown in India but there are still some sectors who are risking their lives by making sure everything is in order and under control. Since the pandemic has begun, the force of doctors and nurses have been working tirelessly, without any expectations, for curbing and serving the patients of Covid 19. Exposing themselves to this careless disease, they are working day and night for the betterment of the society, protecting the patients and helping them.

We have seen various images, videos and verdicts of nurse talking about how their work and
long working hours have affected them, both personally and professionally. We have seen
how the continuous usage of protective gears has caused physical injuries to them. How the
nurses are not being able to meet their families for days, just for the sake of their family’s protection. After all this, we as a society ought to give them our due respect and be grateful towards them.

But what are we seeing?
Videos of how the neighbors and locals of the nurses do not allow the nurses to enter their
society. They even abuse them and call them as “Corona”, asking them to stay away from
their homes. They are not being allowed to use the regular resources; under the claim they
may be infected by corona. They are being treated as outcasts. At times, we have also heard
about some patients mistreating the nurses and misbehaving with them.

How do think this will affect them?
Along with the work pressure, they also have to face such issues from the society they
worked for. This acts as a mental harassment to them.

For the nurses, who are working day and night, just for our safety, protection, and service,
the least we can do this show some gratitude to them. Be thankful to them. We can ensure
their families well-being, their well-being. They should be treated like heroes, the unsung
heroes of the time. And make sure to make their life easier and more accessible. They are
the saviours and they should be treated like one.
