Shopping or Health - What is more important during COVID-19?

Hardly there would be a few in this 21st century who don't like to shop. In such an advanced era, we are free to shop from malls, roadside markets, and also from the online stores. Looking fashionable and trendy has become the people's priority because of which they need to stay updated with the fashion mania.

Different class people prefer shopping differently sometimes because of their budget and sometimes because of their own choices, but being up to date has become the foremost responsibility of every individual.

There's no harm in being stylish and classy instead to look promising is everyone's prerogative. Shopping also acts as a means of escaping from the stress that we carry in our daily schedule.

But in recent times, due to the spread of COVID-19 countries encountered with different phases of lockdown because of which people weren't able to come out and shop or order even online. Later, when there was a change in the phases of lockdown, people started receiving liberty and were able to shop again.

But the compulsive shoppers turned out to be a peril for the people around them as their addiction for shopping led them to take a risk at the time of the pandemic.

These shoppers inherit the following characteristics:

Addiction to shop

These people are addicted to shopping and can not resist themselves from doing so.

And this leads to:

  • Obsession

  • Compulsion

  • Loss of control

Addiction is two-pronged:

  • Physical

  • Psychological

Even during this pandemic, people ordered online which was risky as the product travelled from numerous places and came in contact with multiple people, not only this but a delivery boy is also just a common man who may carry the virus with him.

When people got a chance to shop from their local market, they came out of their homes and made the market so crowded that the chances of coming in contact with the infected person increased. These people weren't afraid about their lives instead had a lot of demands to shop for.

Shopping isn't harmful, but shopping without any necessity and precautions can be disastrous in the present time. It is completely fine to take precautions before stepping out and, if it's not too important, then a better option would be to stay back rather going out in the crowd and getting in contact of an infected person. This can be harmful to us and for our family and society members too as further; they will be coming in contact with us.

Basic safety measures to be taken:

  • Use of mask - Using a mask is the foremost thing a person should do.

  • Carry sanitizer - Carrying sanitizer can also is very important as one needs to keep sanitizing their hands to clean it.

  • Step out when Important - A person should only go out when it's very important.

  • Maintain distance - It is also important to maintain a distance of almost 2 meters.

  • Do not roam around - Use the shortest and safest route, just after the work directly come back home instead of roaming around.

  • Wash hands and take a bath - When you come back home wash your hands properly and if possible then take a bath.

Follow such measures to avoid coming in contact with the virus and stay healthy by using precautions because health is more important than anything else.

Thus, it is necessary to understand that health should be prioritized over everything as yet there's no medicine for this virus and so staying safe with the precautions is a better option.

" Priority is the health, so don't think of anything else."
